Annihilationism is heresy
Annihilationism is a heresy and a false teaching very popular in cults today, particularly Jehovahs Witnsesses and Seventh Day Adventists. The false doctrine states that instead of hell being a place of eternal punishment like what Jesus and the Bible says that instead its a place where you just cease existing. The issue with this view is that it denies the need for salvation and the purpose of the cross and the redemption plan. It denies Gods justice, it gives the wicked a false hope to continue in sin and lastly it's not found in the Bible. Scripture teaches that after death the soul will live on for eternity in either heaven or hell. If hell wasnt eternal heaven wouldnt be either. The Bible describes hell as a place of everlasting punishment and torment in fire:
"And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal."
-Matthew 25:46
45 "And if thy foot offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter halt into life, than having two feet to be cast into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched:"
-Mark 9:45
"And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name."
-Revelation 14:11
The ironic thing about annihilationism is that it leads people to the very eternal hell that they deny. Annihilationists need to repent.
