Easy Believism is Heresy

Many people are denying repentance as an essential doctrine. Teaching it only means a change of mind. This is heresy. It means change of mind but it leads to a change of action. This is a heresy called easy believism and antinomianism which is very common and popular in Evangelical Denominations. The first one that made this teaching popular was Jack Hyles who was a false teacher who had scandals in his Church and pedophiles that molested children because he taught it was OK to live in sin:

Accusations of sexual abuse and improper sexual behavior against Jack Hyles, former pastor of First Baptist Church of Hammond and founder of Hyles-Anderson College, have been widely reported. While Hyles himself denied many of these charges, and a police investigation in 1993 concluded there was "no investigation" of him or the church at that time, several other legal and journalistic outcomes have shed light on the pervasive nature of these allegations and related events:
 * Lawsuits and Settlements:
   * In 1991, Hyles and First Baptist Church of Hammond were sued for $1 million by the parents of a 7-year-old girl who was molested by a church deacon, A.V. Ballenger, during a Sunday school class. The lawsuit claimed Hyles and the church failed to protect children. The church settled this lawsuit out of court, with undisclosed terms. Ballenger was later sentenced to five years in prison.
   * In 2020, multiple civil lawsuits were filed alleging sexual abuse and cover-ups at First Baptist Church and Hyles-Anderson College. For example, Joy Ryder and Rhonda Lee filed a civil claim under the federal Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO), alleging that Jack Hyles repeatedly sexually assaulted them in the 1970s and that the institutions conspired to conceal the abuse. This particular RICO claim was dismissed by the district court and affirmed by the Seventh Circuit because the plaintiffs had not alleged the required "injury to business or property" for a civil RICO claim, not necessarily on the merits of the abuse allegations themselves.
   * Another class-action lawsuit was filed in 2020 by Nanette Miles, alleging she was repeatedly raped as a child by David Hyles (Jack Hyles' son and a church leader) and that church officials covered up the abuse.
 * Journalistic Investigations:
   * In 1989, "The Biblical Evangelist" published a story accusing Hyles of sexual scandals, financial misappropriation, and doctrinal errors.
   * In 1993, WJBK, a Detroit news channel, produced a series called "Preying from the Pulpit" which linked sexual abuse allegations in several fundamentalist churches to First Baptist Church of Hammond and Jack Hyles.
 * Criminal Convictions of Affiliates:
   * While not directly for Jack Hyles, his successor as pastor, Jack Schaap, was convicted in 2013 and sentenced to 12 years in federal prison for having sex with an underage girl. This and other instances of abuse by individuals connected to the church and Hyles-Anderson College have further fueled scrutiny of the environment under Hyles' leadership.
In summary, while Jack Hyles himself was not criminally convicted of sexual abuse, there have been numerous and persistent allegations of sexual misconduct against him, as well as proven cases of sexual abuse by individuals within his church and affiliated institutions, which led to civil lawsuits and out-of-court settlements. The allegations against Hyles and the broader pattern of abuse within institutions connected to him remain a significant part of his controversial legacy.

The teachings most common are that all we have to do is believe Jesus or pray a prayer but that we don't need to repent or do works. They call repentance a work. Repentance isn't works. Works don't save but faith without works is dead. If we don't have works we don't have faith and we're not saved.

They also teaches we can't stop sinning or that repentance is after salvation. The Bible says just men need no repentance. We have free will to stop sinning.

The Bible says that we have to be saved and it says to repent and turn from wickedness and your evil ways which means to stop sinning:

Here's a more detailed look at some key verses and their significance:
New Testament:
Matthew 3:2:
"Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand." This verse, spoken by John the Baptist, calls for a turning away from sin and toward God, as the kingdom of God is near.
• Mark 1:15:
"The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe the gospel." Jesus's preaching also emphasizes repentance and belief in the gospel as essential for entering the kingdom of God.
• Luke 13:3:
"I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish." This verse underscores the dire consequences of not repenting and the need for a sincere change of heart.
• Luke 15:10:
"Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth." This verse highlights the joy in heaven when someone repents and turns to God.
• Acts 2:38:
"Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost." This verse connects repentance with baptism and the forgiveness of sins, emphasizing the need for both.
• Acts 3:19:
"Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord." This verse emphasizes the need for repentance and conversion, leading to the forgiveness of sins and the promise of future blessing.
• Acts 5:31:
"Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins." This verse highlights the role of Jesus in providing repentance and forgiveness.
Old Testament:
• 2 Chronicles 7:14:
"If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land." This verse promises forgiveness and restoration when people repent and turn to God.
• Proverbs 28:13:
"He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy." This verse emphasizes the importance of confessing and forsaking sins to experience God's mercy.
• Isaiah 1:16:
"Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes; cease to do evil." This verse calls for a cleansing from sin and a cessation of evil deeds.
• Ezekiel 18:30-31:
"Therefore I will judge you every one according to his ways, and according to his fruits: saith the Lord GOD. And I will bring you into the land, even into the land which I lifted up mine hand to give to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, and I will give it unto you; and I will make you fruitful, and I will multiply you, and I will increase your number." This verse highlights the consequence of repentance and the promise of a restored relationship with God.
• Psalm 51:1-10:
This psalm, written by King David, is a classic example of a penitential prayer, expressing sorrow
Acts 20:21 (This is New Testament.)
King James Version
21 Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.

Easy believism causes lawlessness and corruption. Both in your personal life and in society. The Bible says be not deceived the unrighteous will not inherit the Kingdom of God 1 Corinthians 6:9-11. If you're living in sin you're not going to heaven.

Satan is a part of Satan's kingdom. If you sin you're doing the Devils work. The Bible says those who commit sin is of the Devil. Whoever is born of God does not commit sin.

In easy believism if you're a sinner you're considered righteous but if you stop sinning and live for the Lord you're considered evil, prideful, and a pharisee. It's a backwards gospel. They condemn the just and justify the wicked

Easy believism is going to lead you to hell. Repent and believe the truth and be saved
